A new combination for 2024 is Matt Sterling & Korey St Clare from Levin. The team have both previously navigated for Caleb Adlam & Daniel Howat respectfully over the past few seasons. Matt is now set to debut his new Homebuilt buggy powered by a 2.7L Toyota 3RZ (as seen in Ruby) with a turbocharger running on a Haltec ECU!
Till then, the crew are borrowing the Coal Runnings buggy of 333 Motorsport.
Originally a 3.8 powered Suzuki SJ413, Gerald as it was then known would compete for five years between Stu Earle & Phil Shailer before getting the chop to be rebuilt into a space-frame buggy. It was at this stage when Daniel Morris would then purchase and finish off the uncomplete frame in 2018.
A Toyota 3L was chosen for the powerplant, with a compound turbo setup providing 50psi to roll some coal!
The newly built Coal Runnings would debut in J Class in 2019, with the crew beating Clarrie Vazey to class honours that season. A couple rounds in C Class would follow in 2020 before a full season assault in 2021, where the 333 Motorsport crew would claim 2nd in C Class and 1st in C Class for Central Zone.
After a couple seasons off and a rebuild, Morris & de Cleene would compete in a handful of rallies during 2023.
