Paul Taylor (2008-)F Class Champ (2020)

Many trucks have had a 5.7L V8 under the hood, where it be an old skool 350 Chev or an LS1 from a Commodore – But there is only one truck to have competed with a Toyota Tundra V8! The quad-cam 3UR-FE V8 is unique as it was sold in the American market, with this 380hp motor being a special import.

This all Toyota setups features the popular Windom FWD transmission, with 80 Series Diffs Front & Rear. Factory coil suspension remains in the rear for F Class rules, with Fox Shocks in the front.

Paul Taylor has been competing for over 20 years, originally competing in A Class Suzuki’s before rallying a C Class Toyota powered Suzuki in the mid 2000’s.

Taylor would then build his previous F Class Toyota to debut in 2008, eventually going on to win the F Class title in 2010 by a single point over the dominating team of Graeme Kingston & Andrew Garner, with Kingston’s Toyota going on to win the next six seasons!

Taylor & Ryan Clark would compete in the new Toyota up until 2015 where they would decide to take a break after 7 seasons in F Class.

During 2018, the 4WD community banded together to bring the former F Class champ a new lease of life (to Taylors surpise!). The Toyota Prado was given a full overhaul – Striped right back down to the chassis with no piece untouched as it was lovingly reassembled with new panels, freshened up running gear and a coat of paint.

Taylor would then compete in the 2020 season with Antony Weatherly, going on to win F Class 10 years after the first.

With daughter Danielle now old enough to compete, Paul returns for 2025 for the full season.
