One of two Trials Trucks from the 80’s still going strong today! Dirt Squirt was originally ‘Dis-Traction’, a Suzuki LJ80 rallied by the late Don Cameron in the 1980’s.
Future E Class champ Mike Gee-Taylor would make the move up from A Class in 1987, before selling the vehicle in 1992.
Trevor Williams would purchase the Suzuki and rename it Dirt Squirt, rallying it as it was for several seasons!
The highlight would taking out the C Class title in 1994, only after two seasons competing in Dirt Squirt!
From then Dirt Squirt would undergo its first rebuild, essentially removing the Suzuki body for a tube frame on the same chassis and running gear. Although small, it was nimble like the similarly built Moonhopper which won the title in 1998. Dirt Squirt would compete like this up until 2005 before its next rebuild.
Returning in 2008, the Rebuilt Dirt Squirt would lose its Suzuki running gear and 31″ tyres for the modern world of Toyota and 35’s! A 1600cc 4AGZE was fitted, along with Hilux diffs and the newly introduced Fox Air Shocks!
Trevor would compete his last two seasons in the sport in Dirt Squirt, retiring at the end of 2011.
Steve Thomason would then purchase Dirt Squirt in the mid 2010’s. Dirt Squirt would undergo some more alterations in 2013, keeping the current shape with some improvements underneath! Together with son Cohin, the duo would achieve their best result of 9th Overall at the event hosted by former owner Mike Gee-Taylor! It would take a few more seasons before Dirt Squirt would sit on the top step of the C Class podium at an event once more, achieving its last win in 2019.
After a few seasons off, Steve & Cohin make their return in 2023.
