Lucas Oil / NZ 4×4 Trials Northern Zone Winners 2025

The lower half of the North Island had one clear winner & runner-up over the season, with the final spot a three-way fight over three points!

C Class

Shayne Towers & Tony Hadland

Shayne Towers & Tony Hadland would defend their Northern Zone title for the second year in a row, being the team to beat in a strong season with their Tombuilt buggy.

Five-time winners Nathan Fogden & Mike Gibbons started the year strong leading the way at Counties, but would ultimately settle for second behind Towers & Hadland once again.

Rhys O’Brien & Clarrie Vazey, also previous winners back in 2021 would take third for C Class in Northern Zone.

D Class & Overall

Scott Biggs & Phil Walton would recover strong to take out Northern Zone

Scott Biggs & Phil Walton kept it consistent at the Northern Zone rounds to take the Acker Bilt Cup for the first time since 2017! It is also a return to the top for Phil Walton who last won it in 2018 as a driver.

Jarred Biggs & Fleche Crawford took second place and the Hardwick Metals Cup, ultimately falling a few points shy of brother Scott.

Chris Gifford & Sam Thomsen would take their best ever result of third in The Punisher, having previously finished no higher than 11th due to mechanical issues in previous years.

F Class

Paul Taylor & Danielle Taylor in ‘ Avalanche’

Former F Class champ Paul Taylor would return for the season with daughter Danielle alongside. Together they help claimed a 6th F Class Northern Zone title for Paul, putting him in undisputed terroritity in the north!

Best Trial & Presented Truck

The Counties 4 Wheelers would win the Best Northern Zone Trial for 2025, having last won it at their last attempt in 2023!

South Waikato club members Chris Gifford & Sam Thomsen won the Best Presented trophy for Northern Zone in “The Punisher”. A 2024 D Class Nitro Custom featuring a L98 6.0L V8 engine.
